Silvia L. Cruz

Silvia L. Cruz earned her master's and doctoral degrees in Pharmacology from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (Cinvestav), Mexico. She spent a year at the Medical College of Virginia, VCU, as a NIDA/INVEST fellow, analyzing the molecular mechanisms of action of commonly misused solvents. She is currently a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Pharmacobiology at Cinvestav and a Level 3 National Researcher at the National System of Researchers, Mexico. Dr. Cruz has published over 100 scientific works on addictions, including four books. She has been an advisor to over 50 graduate students. Besides her research work, she works in prevention and is the author of the website www.cerebroyadicciones.com for disseminating information on drug effects.
